The Planet

The Indigenous ‘Secret of Enough’ – Part 1/2

2023-06-27T16:13:41+00:00

Even though there is still much need and poverty in the world, there is enough for all of us – to survive, to live with dignity, and even to thrive. We just have to use what our Planet has bequeathed to us wisely. Our ancient societies lived balanced lives. Our physical, emotional, and spiritual lives were in balance. And we understood the Concept of Enough.  Most native people worldwide, and other groups like the Mennonites, live off the land, free of most unnecessary material possessions. Links to 2 other associated blog posts are at the end I also offer a variety of Writing Services. The Indigenous peoples believe the earth will provide them with the basic necessities, and they take only what they really need to survive. Most still adhere to the concept of enough.  They love and revere the Planet and understand our deep connection to it. They appreciate that it nourishes us with water, air, and food: it supports us, and they understand that maintaining the purity of these is crucial. The Indigenous people around the world recognize the Planet as a gift from our Creator and that every molecule on it lives and breathes. Embedded in their histories is the belief that we are all its stewards. Throughout the world, most native peoples understand and maintain a reciprocal connection with Gaia. This connection is their spirituality. What is enough? Enough is different for everyone. Most of us in the Western world do want some luxuries and modern commodities and some of these can be supported by Mother Nature (if we are wise about it), but many of us have gone overboard. In The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight Thom Hartmann reminds us that our current society lives under the myth that “if some stuff will make you happy, then twice as much stuff will make you twice as happy, and ten times as much will make you ten times as happy, and so on, into infinity.” (1) This - and all my articles/blog posts are based on concepts in my book:  Your Journey to Peace, Bridging the Gap Between Religion, Spirituality, Psychology, and Science.  And although greed has been around for eons, it has only recently extended to such abusive actions towards our Planet as to threaten her (and thereby our) very survival. Where did this current greed come from? In his essay, “The World of Wonder” in Spiritual Ecology, Thomas Berry explains that in North America this attitude of acquiring grew as a result of our lack of embracing or understanding the concept of “Earth-based spirituality” when we first came here from Europe. Barry reminds us that not only did the Indigenous people understand the relationship between heaven, earth, and its people, evidenced by their rituals and ceremonies to evoke the powers of the Universe/Mother Nature, most ancient cultures did as well. He also tells us that the pillars in India, China, Greece, Egypt, and Rome “were established to delineate a sacred center which provided a point of [...]

The World Needs Our Gentle Touch – Part 3/3

2023-02-23T22:25:22+00:00

In Parts 1 and 2 I discussed why individuals need a gentle touch. We all come from a society that encouraged judgement, criticism, competition - and many other types of disempowering attitudes that caused us to contract from the love that we are at our core. Conflicts from what we experienced or witnessed in our life along with this disconnect from the love of our true self, we are all dealing with our emotional worlds as best as we can. This often plays out as dysfunctions and unloving attitudes and behaviors. This understanding helps us be kinder, gentler, and more compassionate with people who hurt us or act badly. ????? In this part 3, I discuss how Gaia, our planet, has not only been injured by the physical abuses we have put upon her; she has also been negatively affected by the emotional abuses we have put upon her. Gaia is a living, breathing organism. To help her hear, she too needs our gentleness. The Indigenous peoples know this. And just like with each other and with the animals who walk the earth, we have abused her, and so we need help her heal.     Read  Part 1    Read  Part 2 Our Home; Mother Earth In past times, we held a reciprocal relationship with Gaia. She gave to us through her bounty. We took and shared  her gifts – with gratitude, and we looked after her. The Indigenous peoples still adhere to this concept of reciprocity, and still believe in the premise of “enough.” Our planet has suffered physically through industrialization and our greed. We have been inconsiderate of her air, water, land, forests, and resources. We are now seeing the repercussions of many of the decisions made decades ago. Some of these we made unaware of the long-term consequences; others, we knew there would be consequences and either ignored or buried the research. We have gotten used to the many luxuries that we now consider our right – many of them attained at her expense. We have gone beyond the concept of “enough.” ????? All my Writing is based on my published and upcoming books: Cover Images Below About My  Books I also offer a variety of   Writing Services ????? Our planet has also suffered from the emotional abuses we have put upon her. All the unfairness, judgments, prejudices, hate, injustices, and cruelty we have directed towards each other, groups of people, like through genocides and wars, or even towards the animals have affected her. Because she is a living, breathing organism and it all happened within her boundaries, she too has suffered when those living upon her suffered. Gaia, Mother Earth, our beautiful planet has had to shrug off all of these physical and emotional abuses. And even though she is still in an evolutionary stage and some upheavals are normal, many of the recent turbulent weather patterns are because of her releasing this negative energy we have put upon her. She too requires our gentleness to help her [...]

We Are at the Pinnacle of Our Personal, Collective, and Planetary Evolution

2022-08-01T02:22:46+00:00

At this time of our evolution, we are all awakening to the truth of who we are, the truth of who our brothers and sisters on the Planet we share are, and are starting to embrace the concrete changes all this brings with it. We are all primed to become the best and most empowered expressions of ourselves, and this will bring with it powerful changes that will benefit all of us and affect the trajectory of humanity. While it may not be apparent in all areas of our world today, most of us are ready to embrace our shared connection to the Oneness we emanated from and extend its inherent qualities to others. (Below are links to 2 more articles related to Our Evolution, the Planet, the Secret of Enough, and the Indigenous People). We are starting to manifest what will bring about a safe, fair, and egalitarian world, where everyone feels empowered, has what they need to survive and thrive, and is free to live in alignment with their soul’s desires. Children Come into the World More Evolved than the Last Generation It is often the youth that urges us to make the changes needed to create a better world. The children of those born since the enlightenment era of the ’60s - especially those birthed from within the bubble of energy following the ’87 Harmonic Convergence simply expect a peaceful, just, and equitable world. They are here to help us firmly grasp the ideas of compassion, fairness, acceptance, and equality necessary to bring it about. In fact, they are demanding it!. All my articles/blog posts are based on concepts in my book:  Your Journey to Peace, Bridging the Gap Between Religion, Spirituality, Psychology, and Science.  I also offer a variety of Writing Services  Just like with every new generation, the young people of today have shown up here on earth more enlightened than the last one. The confidence and inner-knowledge that come with this allow them to outright reject any attitude or action that hints of unfairness, greed, inequality, prejudice, or cruelty that has been so ingrained in our world. The younger generations don’t accept that people should be used or abused by others, taken advantage of or bullied by big business or the government, or be talked down to by educators or the religious hierarchy. The young people today embrace ideas that align with practices that help our Planet thrive. They are encouraging us to listen to the Indigenous people regarding our beautiful home. They do not buy into the illusions of past generations and therefore are not in denial of the consequences of their or others’ actions. The popular saying “teach your children well” should be followed by “and heed their wisdom.” The young generation of today is starting to and will continue to be the strong leaders who will fearlessly usher in this new, brighter era we now seeing glimpses of. Most of us now understand it is more beneficial to work with others in relationship [...]

The World Needs Our Gentle Touch – Part 2/3

2022-06-24T20:40:52+00:00

In Part 1, I discussed how we all emerged from love, and at our core we are all still connected to that love, but that many of us need a rekindling of the love that is inherent within all of us. Read Part 1  This is why we need to be gentle with each other - and why the world needs our gentle touch - especially these days as our world and lives have been disrupted to a degree we were not prepared for, and that has stressed us and changed our lives so completely. (This is an article/post I wrote a couple of years ago and repost from time to time - tweaked to reflect the world's current situations). Because of what we inherited from Humanity’s history, most of us have, or have had, a weak connection to our True Self – to the love we all hold within our hearts, and therefore have been unable to experience the full benefit of this connection – or to express it fully out into the world. We have all come from the same history of what Humanity perpetuated, but were unaware we were carrying forward baggage that created attitudes and behaviors that either hurt our self or others. Most of us have experienced hurts, pains, or unwelcome repercussions or circumstances – either from generational or cultural influences, our own bad choices, or at the hands of others. And because of this, many of us have been the perpetrators and hurt others. So, we need to forgive ourselves for what we have done, or not done – to ourselves and to others. Being Generous; Offering Gentleness; Extending Love And we need to be generous to each other and extend true and authentic forgiveness to those who have acted badly towards us, others, or the world. We need to offer the gentle hand of reconciliation – an olive branch – whenever possible. Being the recipient of a gentle gesture can open our hearts so that we too can forgive. When we are offered gentleness, it helps us to heal the wounds of hurts or unwanted circumstance that caused us to be disconnected to the love within. The more we offer gentleness and other qualities of love to others, the faster we will all be able to reconnect to the love within and embrace its benefits for ourselves. The more of us who extend love out into the world, the faster we will be able to create the world we all want. As well as offering gentleness to people, we also have to offer it to the animals on our planet. ????? All my Writing is based on my books: Cover Images Below About My Published and Upcoming Books I also offer a variety of   Writing Services ????? The Animals Who Share the Planet With Us Animals share the planet with us to help us, to feed us, to offer us love, and help us grow spiritually. But just like with us, many have [...]

Individuals – and the World Need Our Gentle Touch – Part 1/3

2023-02-23T22:41:40+00:00

We are now living in a time of huge social change that is affecting all of us – and in various ways. And we are all feeling the fatigue and stress of the past few years. No matter our thoughts and beliefs about it all, our best option is always to be loving, hopeful, compassionate – and forgiving towards others – and the world ... because ... We – and the World Need a Gentle Touch! None of us have liked the restrictions of the past few years that have been put upon us. Some of us have made peace with them. Others of us feel they are a huge imposition on our human rights and freedoms – and they are. However, they are attempts to keep people safe. And most of us are doing a magnificent job staying positive, compassionate, and loving – at least most of the time ? There are good arguments for both sides. Either way, time has heightened the frustrations and stress levels for all of us. Many are baffled or angered with the divisiveness this has brought to the forefront – especially with the protests now going on (in Canada).  Many are concerned about the disruptions. Others feel the protests are necessary so that individual freedoms are respected. Most of Us Are Managing Our Emotions – Most of the Time. Most of us are doing a magnificent job staying positive and being kind and compassionate towards others. However,  as frustration and fatigue has grown, some of us may have become more reactive, or even grumpy and argumentative. And some people may even have become distant as being reclusive feels more comfortable to them. NO matter the circumstances of the day, our beliefs, and how well or badly we have acted or reacted these past few years – we are all only ever just doing our best to deal with how life has, or is now, playing out. As well as my spiritual / personal development writing, I also offer writing services.  See my Writing Services Page It helps us, others, and Humanity to extend kind gestures – general goodness, which may often just be a nod or smile towards all who cross our path – even those we disagree with. I see this happening much of the time, but it is easy to fall into the "poor me" head down rut these days and forget to extend to others– especially when we are tired of it all and feeling frustrated by what is now going on. The thing is, when we feel a little down we often forget that when we extend any of the expressions of love, we feel better. It raises our mood. It's a win-win. This is a post from a few years ago that I re-post from time to time – with a little tweaking to address the current energy and situation. It's a reminder that no matter what is happening around us, it's a time to be ... ?especially kind,  gentle, loving, and compassionate towards everyone we [...]

The Secret of Enough – Part 2/2

2022-07-29T15:43:32+00:00

What is enough? Enough is different for everyone. Most of us in the Western world do want some luxuries and modern commodities and some of these can be supported by Mother Nature (if we are wise in our choices), but many of us have gone overboard and are unnecessarily taxing our Planet - and its inhabitants. Read   Part 1 .  And at the end, you will find links to a few more associated blog posts. In The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight Thom Hartmann reminds us that our current society lives under the myth that “if some stuff will make you happy, then twice as much stuff will make you twice as happy, and ten times as much will make you ten times as happy, and so on, into infinity.” (1) And although greed has been around for eons, it has only recently extended to such abusive actions towards our Planet as to threaten her (and thereby humanity's) very survival. We “saw ourselves as a divine blessing on this continent. In reality, we were a predator people on an innocent continent”(3) "We saw a land that could allow us to break away from the “monarchical governments  and their world of royalty and subservience,” but rather than be in awe of the grandness and beauty of this land, we saw it as a “continent available for exploitation.”(3) Although it is likely that at least some of those who felt inspired to break free of Europe's leaders' controlling, cruel, and greedy ways and were searching for a place to create new values, the individuals who came brought the old attitudes and behaviors with them - values that did not reflect those of the native people already here. These articles are all based on Chapter 9, “The Planet and Abundance” from my book Your Journey to Peace …  I am also a Copywriter/Digital Marketer. and offer various Writing Services Find out more HERE The Indigenous peoples were actually the more spiritually advanced ones.
